Water pooling near your foundation is one of those problems that's easy to ignore until it becomes a much bigger deal. Moisture that sits against a home's foundation over time can lead to cracks, settling, and even basement or crawl space issues. The fix doesn't have to be complicated - but it does have to be done right.
On this one, the goal was simple: get water moving away from the home and give the front landscape a clean, finished look at the same time. We installed a drainage pipe along the front of the house and covered the entire bed with river rock. The rock allows water to filter through and flow toward the drainage outlet instead of sitting against the brick and foundation.
What we like about river rock for situations like this is that it pulls double duty. It's functional - water moves through it freely. But it also looks intentional and polished. It ties in naturally with the brick exterior and gives the front of the house a sharp, well-maintained appearance without needing any ongoing upkeep.
This is the kind of hardscaping work that homeowners don't always think about until there's a visible problem. Soft spots in the yard, muddy beds after every rain, water stains on brick - those are all signs that drainage needs attention. Getting ahead of it with a solution like this saves money and headaches down the road.
Every yard is a little different, and drainage problems can show up in a lot of places - along a foundation, near a downspout, or in a low spot in the yard. We work through the specifics on each job to make sure water ends up where it belongs - away from the structure.
