A patio that looks good but turns into a soggy mess after every rain is frustrating. You avoid it, you work around it, and eventually you stop using it altogether. That's exactly the problem we set out to fix here.
We extended an existing flagstone patio to give this homeowner more usable space under their gazebo - and we didn't stop at just adding square footage. The bigger issue was water. Without a proper drainage solution in place, any rain event would leave standing water on the surface and make the whole area unusable for hours, sometimes longer.
So we handled both. The flagstone extension ties seamlessly into what was already there, and the white decorative gravel packed between the stones isn't just for looks - it plays a role in the drainage system, allowing water to move through and away from the surface instead of pooling on top. The result is a patio that actually functions the way a patio should, rain or shine.
That's what good hardscaping comes down to. It has to look sharp, but it also has to work. A well-built outdoor space holds up through heavy use and heavy weather. When those two things come together, you end up with something you'll actually want to spend time in.
