Water going where it shouldn't is one of those problems that starts small and turns into something much bigger. A walkway that doesn't drain properly can channel water toward your foundation, erode your landscaping, and leave you with headaches that cost way more to fix later than they would have upfront.

Here's what we were working with on this Fairview job - an existing walkway that needed to come out, some serious drainage issues to sort through, and a clean slate to work from. The old concrete got broken up and hauled off, and we got to work setting up proper drainage before ever touching the new pour.

Getting the drainage right first is the part most people don't see - but it's the most important part. A corrugated drainage line was run alongside the walkway to make sure water has somewhere to go. That's what protects the surrounding rock beds, the shrubs, and most importantly, the foundation of the home.

Once the drainage was handled, we formed and poured a smooth, curved concrete walkway that follows the natural flow of the front yard. Clean edges, a consistent finish, and a path that actually complements the landscaping rather than fighting it. That kind of result doesn't happen by accident - it takes good prep work and attention to how water moves across the property.

Drainage and concrete work go hand in hand more often than people realize. If you've got standing water near your walkway, soggy spots in your landscape beds, or a path that's starting to crack or shift, there's usually something going on underneath worth looking at.
